AIC INTERNATIONAL

AICUK is one of over 50 national associations in five continents. As an NGO (non-governmental organization) of over 150,000 members it gives a voluntary service to those who are poor or destitute, and has consultative status at the U.N., UNESCO, ECOSOC, the E.U. and other international bodies. It is the oldest association of Christian women in the world, dating from 1617 when St. Vincent de Paul began his training of women for work with sick and impoverished people in 17th century France.

AIC is also part of the international Vincentian family – a supportive network of lay groups, organizations and religious congregations which claim St. Vincent de Paul as their founder, patron or guiding inspiration.
